Al-Fadhil Abdul Aziz Abdullah officially took office as the Atoll Governor on 8 April 1978. After taking up his position, before starting practical work on the development of the island, he traveled to Male on 9 September 1978. After this trip, he returned and took charge of office work for the second time on 8 November 1978.
Many people note that Abdul Aziz Abdullah's tenure as Atoll Governor was not a period marked by significant new projects for the atoll's advancement and development. As a result, the opportunities for development that residents should have received were hindered. He remained in the Atoll Governor's position for a short period of 11 months and 23 days. Within this short period, no significant changes occurred in the atoll's administrative structure or social conditions, and thus, in terms of development, this cannot be considered a period of major progress. He was removed from his position on 27 February 1979.
