Biography

Al-Fadhil Ahmed Abdullah Didi is the son of Abdullah Didi from Maalay Asgamuge Farmudharikki Legefanu. This person was also famous by the name 'Fensiru Ahamaaidee'. On December 2, 1954, His Highness Sultan Muhammad Fareedullah First appointed Fensiru Ahamaaidee to the position of Fuvahmulah Atoll Chief. Fensiru Ahamaaidee held this position until June 26, 1957. This was a total period of 3 years, 2 months, and 2 days.

One of the most notable incidents during Fensiru Ahamaaidee's tenure as Atoll Chief was the 'Bodufengandu' incident. Even now, many elderly people in Fuvahmulah recall the efforts made by Fensiru Ahamaaidee to overcome this dangerous incident when estimating their age. Particularly, his efforts to provide food cards to the people remain in the memories of those who lived during that time.

In terms of education, under Ahmed Didi's leadership, the existing Madrasathul Haniyyah and Madrasathul Hidayah in Fuvahmulah were dissolved. In their place, on May 24, 1955, a new school named 'Madrasathul Inayaa' was established on the land where the current City Council office is located. In keeping with the resources of that time, this school building was constructed by placing tree trunks on the ground and covering it with leaves.
