Biography

Al-Fadhil Noomara Ganduvaru Thuththumaanikufaanu Muhammed Didi is the son of Al-Ameer Noomara Ganduvaru Ibrahim Thuththumaanikufaanu, who was the son of Sultan Mohamed Imaduddin (4th). Mohamed Didi first came to Fuvahmulah to inform the people about the change in the republican era. During this visit in 1953, he became very interested in the experience at the Raevehi Gai (government residence) and the exemplary example shown by the staff in serving the leader. Furthermore, when he found that the recreational facilities were at a similar level to Male', his interest in Fuvahmulah increased further.

Mohamed Didi took charge as the atoll chief on February 28, 1954. During his tenure, he narrowed the island's cross road and main road, allocated plots on both sides of the main road, and closed off the ends of both roads. Many island residents expressed their dissatisfaction with this decision. Additionally, as the football field area contained plots already allocated to people, he abolished the football field and allocated plots from that area. Some people were also allowed to build houses there.

Finally, on September 12, 1954, Al-Fadhil Noomara Ganduvaru Thuththumaanikufaanu Mohamed Didi resigned from his position as Fuvahmulah Atoll Chief.
