The Department of National Registration has now established an online portal to expand and expedite the service of issuing Maldivian national identity cards, bringing them closer to the people.

By logging into online.dnr.gov.mv and registering, every Maldivian citizen can now submit an application to obtain an ID card from anywhere. Additionally, each person can submit applications for their own ID card as well as for those under their guardianship. When applying for a card, the portal must be used to select the desired location for card collection, and the card's status can be checked through the portal. When submitting information through the portal, no physical form needs to be submitted. In connection with the online ID card service, this office has now stopped accepting physical forms for obtaining Maldivian national identity cards.

Since the portal has started processing card issuance, this office now only needs to collect fingerprints and signatures in cases requiring them (for those turning 10 years old and obtaining a new card).

If anyone encounters any difficulties in obtaining an ID card online, assistance can be provided by the Vital Registration and Transport Section of the Fuvahmulah City Council (Fuvahmulah Collecting Center).
