Regarding the appointment of members from various departments to the Advisory Committee of Fuvahmulah Biosphere Reserve

Fuvahmulah was designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve at the 32nd "Man And Biosphere Reserve International Committee" held on 28 October 2020. Therefore, an Advisory Committee needs to be established for the UNESCO Fuvahmulah Biosphere Reserve. This committee will include (1) representative from each important department/sector whose participation is essential for decision-making regarding the Fuvahmulah Biosphere Reserve.

The objectives of establishing this committee are:

1. To obtain stakeholder participation in setting the necessary principles and in the decision-making and implementation processes to achieve the required characteristics of a biosphere reserve.

2. To provide support and coordinate matters necessary to achieve the targets and objectives of the "Man And Biosphere" program at the atoll level.

3. To develop the areas designated for protection while maintaining their integrity, identify ways to benefit from these places, and promote economic development in a way that allows the community to prosper.

Therefore, the following meeting schedules are hereby fixed for the representatives of the departments mentioned in the table below to be appointed to the Fuvahmulah Biosphere Reserve Advisory Committee and for the alternative members to participate in the event that a member is unable to attend a committee meeting. Accordingly, a public notice is hereby issued calling upon all personnel working in these departments to participate in the meetings as scheduled in the table below.
