
A permanent solution to the waste problem in Fuvahmulah City has been pursued, and an agreement has been signed to purchase and install a compost machine.
Trough the City Council's efforts to resolve the waste issue, and through discussions with the Japanese government, the Japanese government and its citizens have provided a generous aid of one hundred thousand dollars to Fuvahmulah City to address the waste problem.
Today, the City Council signed an agreement with India's Athukea Equipment Pvt Ltd to purchase and install a compost machine. Speaking at today's ceremony, Mayor Ismail Rafeeg stated that the machine would be able to produce compost or soil for agricultural and home garden needs. This can be sold to residents, and there is also an opportunity to sell compost to other areas.
"With the introduction of this machine, the waste problem will be solved, and it will provide significant relief and satisfaction to residents living in the current waste collection area, students in schools, and people traveling through that area," said the Mayor.
The City Council and residents of Fuvahmulah gratefully accept this aid from the Japanese government and its citizens in resolving the city's waste problem.
